sand dollar

Crouched by the surf before sunrise, I was adjusting my camera to capture a feather in the best light. A woman collecting shells and such wandered over to ask me why I didn’t just pick up the feather and take it home. “I’d rather just leave it there,” I replied.

She smiled nicely and nodded and then said she’d like to tell me a story.

“My mother is on the other side and she loved sand dollars. So when I’m at the beach I look for them but so far this morning all I’ve found are broken ones.” She paused and opened her hand to show me the broken bits. “I asked my mother to have me find one as a sign from her. And here it is!”

I don’t know where it came from but there it was… a perfectly shaped sand dollar! We both beamed, nodding like crazy, and exclaiming how wonderful it is to have signs from loved ones.

Ahhhh… the little unexpected uplifting moments in life are everything.

With healing light and love,

Lisa
